Also, did anyone else here like Diablo 2 but hate Diablo 1?



Thought the first was one of the worst games I've ever played.

Only played D1 towards the end of its life cycle. Thought it was a bit too slow and dull, at the time. Think even less of it after D2. HAha.

the gameplay vid was ok (and id like to be wrong) but there just doesn't seem to be a tremendous amount of skill involved in the gameplay? am i missing something? the only thing i ever found truly impressive about diablo was its random map generating which is full of awesome and a great technical achievement imo.

but the whole point and click thing just never grabbed me. attack, run away a bit...attack some more. and then some more. meh. maybe im just old and grumpy.

It's just preference. Diablo's always had the casual gamer in mind, no matter what the Blizz people say. There are elements that make the game a bit deeper but nothing that a few weeks of intense gameplay sessions can't teach a dedicated player.

It's not supposed to involve skill, not in the FPS or RTS sense of the word. It's supposed to involve running around slaughtering monsters by the hundred and collecting shiney loot. There's a certain subset of gamers who enjoy this particular way of passing time, if you've never played WoW or the Diablo series then it's worth suggesting that you probably don't belong to this subset, and thus this game isn't designed for you and you'd be wasting time criticizing it.

It'd be like me passing judgement on a FPS when playing CS or UT once every few months it about the extent of my FPS experience. To me it all just looks like running around aiming at something and clicking, though to fans of that type of gameplay I'm sure it's much more indepth and detailed.

i played a few hours of diablo 1, and several more of titan quest. i understand the games, i just dont understand the appeal and im asking for someone to explain it to me.

If your not a fan of rpgs I dont think you would like it

diablo isn't an rpg.

it's an action RPG. ;P

and it's exactly what it's supposed to be, simple, fun and a good story.

i like the gore in this game, i know it seems twisted, but the amount of blood in d1 and d2 wasn't enough for me.
