By the way did you wall mount it yourself? Just curious to know cause I hear Geek Squad/Firedog are crazy expensive just for this service.

Jonas/aBigWreck,

I got an L32 LCD model about 2 years ago when I moved out of my folks place. I enjoyed it but recently it croaked on me. The past two months it had been failing on me as in it would turn off sporadically. I researched online and found several complaints on vizio's (various models). I expect a tv to last me more than 2 years. Now I'm debating whether fixing it (purchasing a new power board for it) or just biting the bullet and buying a new one (not vizio). just my .2 cents take it for what its worth.

As far as the wallmount, I havent got it yet, I mean I bought it I just havent recieved it in the mail yet, but yeah I'll be doing it myself (well with a buddy of mine). I've got a an old dresser out in the garage that when I put the TV on it its at the perfect height that I would want it on the wall so I'll be using that while I mount it as not to have to do any crazy holding of the TV while I screw shit in.

As for the TV... like I said earlier, I got freaking STEAL on mine. I would reccomend doing some hunting for a bargain and getting a new one. The guy I got it from off ebay gets em SOOO cheap since he's got a vendor license with Toshiba.

I got 52" Toshiba REGZA full 1080P (4 HDMI inputs, 2 Colorstream inputs , S video, optical audio input, and a bunch of other doodads I'll prolly never use) for like 1400 bucks WITH shipping and shipping insurance, although, in my case, I had a $500 ebay giftcard, so mine actually was about 900 bucks. But considering the TV retails in the 2500-3000 dollar range, thats still a deal.

and just let me say, playing XBox 360 in HD is freaking AMAZING.

I actually just noticed a big green line on the left side of my TV. I've had it since March Although I got it from CostCo so I need to figure out the deal with the warranties there

I actually don't know much about the warranty. Are they included with all the purchases or is it something seperate that I had to get?

I also lost my receipt since the purchase, do I need it in order to access my warranty? I would assume since it was purchased on my CostCo card that I wouldn't need that.

$900 for a 52" 1080p LCD is definitely a steal..you should be ashamed!!

I've actually narrowed my search down but I'm waiting to see if prices keep dropping. Especially since I recently got back from vacation and I haven't budgeted for another big purchase. I'm considering wall mounting simply b/c if I go bigger my current TV stand would not be adequate.

aBigWreck,
I've heard Costco is great at taking stuff back/exchanging. Good luck to you.

Yeah I feel even without the gift card tho it would have been a good choice, that Toshiba series of LCD TV has gotten pretty consistant good reviews everywhere I've looked.

What are you looking at brand/model/size wise?

No tax and free shipping FTMFW

Plus good thing I bought before 09/01 since they've discontinued their price guarantee. Will call them today for the price difference.

So, in essence, you're getting the same quality TV without the price.

two problems:
one, you can't get the parts, so if it breaks, out of warranty, you're fucked.

two, the panels are made at the same plant--they're not the same panels. Even then, there's a lot more that goes into a TV than just the panel, the video processor being the most important piece. The quality is not close to the same...well, maybe the same as a Phillips.

also, LCDs suck.

I'd have to argue that. I think it really depends on who makes the TV. The TV I got (a toshiba) is an LCD and it was setup next to a plasma (pioneer) and the picture was actually nicer on the LCD.
