Portugal just had the Euro four years ago. Have you been to South Africa? I have once and I did not feel safe in Johannesburg at all. I don't mean it as any offence, but come on man...the crime and murder rates in that country are through the roof. It's as dangerous, if not more, than Mexico for tourists these days.
Anyway if they can pull it off, then great for them. Africa deserves to have the World Cup, but the next time it comes to Europe, I think it's England's turn and they will easily put up the best bid. Whether or not they can get through all the politics and England hating in FIFA (Blatter for one) is another issue altogether.
