What hasn't he done.

Oakey wasnt one of the founders of House but he was one of the founders of Acid Hous when he started the first Acid House nights in the UK at Heaven.
He then moved on to explore the Goa sound from India then mixed argualbly the best Essential Mix of all time, The Goa Mix, in 1994. Since then he set up Perfecto Records and basically brought Cream into the spotlight with his 2 year Residency in 1997 and 1998.
In 1999 he was one of the major reasons for the Trance Explosion that we all love. He did a World Tour with the Essential Mix and travelled to all corners of the globe spreading the Trance sound throuhgout the world while still setting places like Gatecrasher on fire with awsome live mixes. God I miss this era!
He then moved on and as Trance became more popular he started moving away from it and is once again trying new things.
Today he plays alot of Breaks and new style music. While still retaining Trance as his major sound.
If things go as before Oakey will make breaks and new styles extremely popular. But he always changes to explore new sounds and new ideas.
Right now he is currerntly touring the US alot to try and educate many of them. He's probably succeeding more than anyother DJ in breaking into America. I wish he would leave America and remember other poorer less fortunate countries like Australia that want him back!!
But thats basically what he has done for the music.

Word,Trancey Ash.That's a very good summary of Oakey's career so far.I couldn't have said it better myself.

shit, he doesn't even have the slimmest case for being this so-called "founder" of trance!

i just hate it when people pull such statements out of their ass when they have *no* idea what the hell they're talking about!!!

yeah, that nearly threw me off my chair!....franky knuckles is a legend...even though i dig oakenfold, he's not God, and I wish people would stop thinking so...

thank god you didn't say he was the founder of techno too because i might have beat some ass jk

He basically was one of them. He was definately not the only one! It's not like Paul Oakenfold came along and invented Clubbing. There were many others also just that he contributed a hell of alot to the club scene.

The ignorance and stupidity of this post is beyond belief. But, the reason I'm replying to it, is because unfortunately a lot of people think this way and elevate Oakenfold beyond any reasonable limits.

I repeat that Dance, Trance, and Club music would have been just fine, and equally popular and alive, without your "god" Oakenfold. Trance and Euro-NRG have always been popular in continental Europe, especially Germany. If you think that the world ends with Great Britain and the British DJ's, think again. Your world view is obviously very limited.

By the way, do you mean to tell me that what Oakenfold spins now is "Club music"? Hahaha! Try playing his CD at any normal club. Nobody will dance. Why? Because people want club music, with a sufficiently fast beat they can dance to, not broken grooves and acapellas and opera theatrics.

And one more thing: In the other thread about Oakenfold, somebody started flaming me for saying that he's "arrogant." Well, only an arrogant DJ could add voiceovers to his album ("Another World") saying "Are you going to see Oakenfold? Oakenfold is the best DJ. We are going out tonight to see Oakenfold. The music builds and builds. The world's best DJ, Paul Oakenfold." Imagine all the people who wasted their money on this album and can't even listen to it because of these pathetic voiceovers. I rest my case.

Bleh, where do you get that from? I've listened to Another World and Travelling over hundreds of times and the only things that you put above that were right that is the voice over from the album was "Are you going to see Oakenfold? The music gradually builds and builds." It sais nothing on neither of the 4 cd's about "The world's best DJ, Paul Oakenfold" so I dont know where you get that from. The reason from the voiceovers was because he said "I took people from all over the world to create voiceovers to create a club enviroment." Correct me with a sample from the cd if you feel that I am wrong. I'm not trying to flame if you feel that I am, just spreading knowledge.

JaY

Well, even if these are the only voiceovers, it's still pretty arrogant to do this pathetic self-promotion. Why do they repeat his name? Because he's so great, rich, and famous?

Fucking "club atmosphere" my ass, it's not a club atmosphere at all. Like I said previously, his music is only good for listening in your headphones and "spacing out"... NOT dancing.
