It doesn't make sense for the thing that defines a genre to be "cliche" within the genre. The 303 (or similar sound) is what makes acid house "acid house" rather than something else.
It's like saying, "Man, speculation about advanced technology and alien lifeforms is so cliche in sci-fi."
