Because idiots like you avidly recommend it to them, which understandably makes them ill-disposed to listening to it.

because not everyone listens to the same music other wise we would not have half the music we have today.me personally i dislike country everyone around me in texas loves and tell me their "hows it so awesome speech" i gave it a try and no my thing. consentrate on what you listen to not making other people listen to the same thing. and also because you live in america.

the other day i when was tripping on shrooms in central park, i turned to my friend and told her how much i hated dance music. i kept telling her that it was a tin box above the earth, and i was disgusted with how it didnt belong to the park and i was disgusted by the people strutting around and the sex game behind it all

the percentage of dance music that exists compared to what i like is really really small.

but the percentage that i like, i really really like.

i completely understand that people hate dance music.

ive been getting my girlfriend into techno and house music lately. she has always hated the music before, but says the stuff i have shown her is different. we went clubbing not long ago, it was tech/minimal, and she hated it. when we got home i put on a sven vath set and she loved it, its still in her cd player in her car right now. i ask "i thought you hated this music?", she says "that night we went out, that music was too monotonous, but this stuff is much better, its more interesting".

i think to turn people on to this music, they need to hear a proper good dj play it, not just the local dj on a regular night.

it has to do with music scenes: she took me to see a band she likes "black angels", it was horrible, she liked it, everyone there liked it, but i thought it sucked. no one was dancing, they were just staring at the band play this heroin noise type stuff, and then applauding at the end of each song or during a breakdown. the reason is that is the rock scene, you have to be in that scene and listen to that music all the time to like the not as good stuff. techno falls into the scene phenomenon too. people listen to only rock they fall into a rut creatively. people that only listen to techno fall the same fate and become less creative as well.

i realized that there is something about reproducing sound the way we currently do that can just never ever touch original production of sound from an instrument.

we need subwoofers made from the earth itself

imagine that an environment could be assembled on the nanoscale so that it was receptive to wireless data such that each minute particle of the environment could somehow resonate and produce sound

a problem i have found is that people just find it flat out repetitive. wow that's groundbreaking you say... ya, ya i know.

they don't know how to listen to dance music. what they do is they focus on ONE element of a song and listen to that one element only for the song. hence why its called 'doof doof' a lot of the time...because they only listen to the kick going doof doof doof doof. they get lost with all the layers.

i've tried explaining to people that you listen to new elements as they come in and not to focus on the one thing, but they seem unable or probably more likely, unwilling.

side note to this, im going with its because they are fed pop/top40 stuff most of their life and they get used to focussing on the LYRICS with the music as well, background. naturally this is why vocal house songs are so popular because when you mix crappy lyrics with a 'dancing beat' and mix in a little alcohol, people go nuts for it.
