He doesn't even have the nutsack to take McCain up on his offers to debate in front of military groups (after he said he'd debate McCain anywhere, anytime on Iraq policy), and agreed to only 1 town hall format debate out of the 10 that were offered, and wanted it televised on July 4th when nobody would be watching.

Its called being a presidential candidate in an election.

Why would Obama want to have a debate in settings where McCain would clearly be more welcomed than Obama? It's like a visiting team playing in somebody else's home field. The crowd is going to root for the home team. It's pretty simple. You don't debate on you opponent's terms.

the military group was just one... but the point was that Obama specifically challenged McCain anytime, anywhere for a debate on Iraq policy in May. So, at Fort Hood they invited both to come debate that policy in front of everyone and now Obama won't go. He is afraid to have extemporaneous exchanges with someone on an issue he's inexperienced in, obviously... which is why he never should have issued that challenge to begin with. I actually think the crowd would probably be more sympathetic to Obama than some might think because military families have gone through a lot over the last five years and want to see the Iraq war come to some sort of conclusion.

The other 10 town hall deals were aimed at being in just regular towns across the country... no specific demographic targeted.

And Obama asked to do four debates and McCain said no... what's the big deal? The fact is that both candidates suggested making more joint appearances than in any other race in modern history.

The right always finds a way to label left-leaning Democrats as communists...
