Anime's always give me the feeling I'm watching cartoonized soap operas. And I hate soaps..But Dragon Ball Z, was the SH*T back in the day!

Similar story or in the same 'universe' as Full Metal Alchemist? I really enjoyed that show.
Cowboy Bebop & Gundam Wing were both pretty badass. Dragonball Z remains my favorite anime, though I'm sure you've already seen them.

Although, I'm not very familiar with non-televised Animes. So I've only got a handful to choose from.

However, I will state that Inuyasha is the WORST fuckin' anime I've ever watched. The plot and dialogue is fowl, and the actual drawn artwork isn't even that pleasent to look at.

actually havn't seen much cowboy bebop. Looks funny from what little I've seen but think I'll pass on it.

I can never get into Dragon Ball series, any of them, had an overly obsessed roommate in college who i swore said "Kamehameha" to himself when we weren't listenin, but this guy also sang out loud michael jackson songs while other people were studying so who knows.

I prefer staying w/ televised animes since the dvds are easier to get, me being one who likes to be dumb and actually buy the stuff instead of watching it for free on the various websites that host it.

I know I didn't intend this thread as a greatest anime's but I really was impressed with the execution of Fruits Baskets, better than Ranma 1/2 i think, but kenshin is the best.

Side note, reading a historical book on the shinsengumi. Kenshin had some decent amount of history correct.

No, Fumoffu is based in the Full Metal panic universe. Much better than FMA, at least i think so, though i did enjoy FMA, but i enjoyed the manga more than the anime.

And Inuyasha is just DBZ for girls really.

See, even webcomic artists agree with me

Though there are funny moments, for the most part, Cowboy Bebop is a dark sci-fi drama. One of the best animes I've seen.

Video Girl AI might be closer to what the OP is looking for though. It's sappy and funny.

Aaand while you're at it, Kanon and AIR too.

Kanon
Kanon (2006), which is IMO better

AIR
