Well now you know, if audio slows down to half speed (or speeds up for that matter) it generally isn't a virus OR an OS problem  .
A driver problem would be the only realistic possibility in my opinion. But generally drivers like ASIO have problems working at multiple sample rates. So if you open a second sequencer or audio program which requires different settings these things happen . Next time you know where to look  and it would save you the hassle of working down your own list .
