Last year, some college buddies and left Portland OR on Thursday morning and drove to San Luis Obispo, CA to see a high school friend's band open for the Suburban Legends (ska, woop!). Sunday morning we left and got back late late that night. Came out to 2,165 miles in 4 days, roughly 1,900 of which came on Thursday and Sunday. Wasn't too bad, but god damn did we have fun.

hah well i win for lamest one
two friends and i took four weeks to get from coast to coast, and went probably the most roundabout route possible. we started in MA, went east through new york/buffalo into canada, down into michigan, back to columbus, and back all the way to northeastern penn, about 3 hours from where we started

the dude we were staying with in michigan was like oh mountain bike nationals are in a week in penn, if you wanna come with you can chill on our floor, so we did but we were already in michigan and just had to slowly backtrack for a week

Unless you're takng a group of people by the time you've filled up the car (petrol prices gone up more than plane tickets in the last few months), considered tyre wear, cost of time to drive anywhere you might as well fly.

I think the furthest I've gone by car is from central Virginia to Hilton Head Island (around 450 miles each way) and only because it was a last minute trip and a pain in the arse to fly to. Was the most dull drive ever. Other than that anything more than 250 miles each way and I'm getting on a plane.

Crazy road trip 2:

Got in the car Friday night, drove 950 miles to Tampa and arrived at the home of a guy who was an importer of Columbia's finest export product on Saturday morning. Made a large purchase of this product and then spent all day chilling and sampling the purchase. Saturday night we went to a party that the importer was throwing at a club and left there 3 AM Sunday morning. Got right back in the car and drove 950 miles back home.

Crazy road trip 3:

Drove 1150 miles from home to Miami straight through. I did all the driving with no stops except for gas. Fortunately I had a week on South Beach before I repeated the same thing on the return trip.

Jesus Christ! That's insane. My longest is from Chicago to Tampa, strait through in a busted ass moving truck helping my friend move. A close second was Charlotte to NYC last summer. Other than that, I've driven from Clearwater/Tampa to various parts of NC about 25 times (average about 10 hours per trip 1 way). None involving coke or acid though... I need to be clear headed to make those kinds of trecks

Longest I've ever been on the road is 10 hours. Would love to go on a road trip eventually but the current gas prices make it very unappealing.

I've driven from Dallas to Chicago numerous times, straight through. It's about 15 hours. One time I did it and chain-smoked the entire way whilst consuming large amounts of caffeine. It was like I was clubbing the entire way. Another time I drove straight up and met a couple buddies at a bar in Schererville. From there we bar-hopped a bit and partied it up pretty nicely. I spent the next day recovering and then on the following day I continued on to Philly, about 10 hrs.

The longest was Dallas straight to Philadelphia. That was 24 hours of driving over 2 days. What made it bad was our two cats constantly crying for the entire trip. We did stop at a hotel briefly but got no sleep as the cats continued to voice their displeasure.

I actually enjoy being in the car for extended periods. I like listening to full mixes at one click, uninterrupted. I like seeing new places and I like cutting people off on the highway and giving them the finger.

Yeah nothing beats sharing the highway with morons who can't drive when you are 48 hours without sleep and in a methamphetamine fueled rage

I love road trips!!!

The longest I've ever been on would have to be Chicago --> D.C. --> Tampa through a 4 day time period. We spent a couple of days visiting the nation's capital. A good old-fashioned family vacation, good memories.

The longest road trip I've ever been on where I was the one driving would have to be Savannah, Georgia to DeKalb, Illinois, about 1100 miles. Just did this one about 2 months ago where I picked up a new car down in GA, then had to drive that bitch back up north. It was just me, my weed, and my music the whole way home. One of the most relaxing experiences of my life. Waffle House has never tasted better.

And I loved the randomness of your trips, XaNaX...the only random bullshit I've ever done with driving is no more than 100 miles or so (random trips to Milwaukee or Indy)

i can't do road trips. i have a bad back and i have to pee too much on long car rides. and i can't read while riding in a car or else i get nausiated. i like to just get to where i need to be and fast.

although i haven't been on any road trips with friends as an adult. they were when i was younger with my dad. one that sticks out was when we started off in san diego and drove up the PC highway all the way to Yosemite & San Fran. it was beautiful.

New York to Florida. I drove the whole way there. We only stopped for gas/bathroom/food..drove straight through the night. We arrived on 4th of July and stayed for three days and then went back. My friend drove the entire way back.

The drive itself wasn't bad. We didn't get stopped by the cops once eventhough we were speeding for much of the way. My friend in the passenger seat made sure I stayed awake. My ass did hurt quite a bit when we got there tho from sitting too long.

Atlanta - El Salvador

It was long but we got to stop in San Antonio, Vercruz, Monterrey, Guatemala City, New Orleans amongst other cities. It was a bit long htough, 10 days or so.. maybe 12.

When we moved to El Salvador we had money to buy tickets provided by the company, so instead of buying tickets we spent it on hotels and decided to see a bit of the world while we went.

In the summer when I was 7, my folks took my brother and I on a 6 week road trip. We left Montreal to Boston, NYC, Philly, Washington DC, Pedro's South of the Border, Florida down to Key West and back, Baton Rouge, Phoenix, Grand Canyon, Vegas, LA, Hollywood, Frisco, and came back cutting somewhat through the centre of the US and seeing Mt Rushmore, geysers at Yellowstone, Chicago and back.
