Have you tried connecting your router as you did before using cabling, then type in http://192.168.0.1 in your broswer URL bar?
Should then bring you to the password prompt. Username is normally 'admin' and the password is either 'password', 'admin' or blank.
yeah
no connection
will try one more time.
edit the router is not new...i just grabbed it out of my boxes. Is it possible a previous configuration with a diff provider is what is blocking me?

Yes, but nothing a reset won't cure (which I assume you've tried...) Sounds fucked.

In my experience, DSL Wireless routers normally prompt you for a username and password to gain access to the modem configuration first of all. Your ISP should have sent you instructions giving you their own username and password to access their service through the router you have, once you've managed to get into the configurator. Those are normally sent in the post/email when you subscribe
You have any of those?
Edit - If your router's been used and configured for something else before, then follow Mikey's instructions and reset back to default, then go through the above steps. You shouldn't need any drivers

You need to login to the web admin and change the DSL PPPoE user login name / password. Should be called connection login or somthing, or it might be a dropdown, depends on the router. Your problem lies there.
edit: oh wait, fail. didn't read the rest of the thread, he fixed it.
