are you sure that the wireless lan is not the problem? have you tested the connection speed between the two pc's?

what connection type do you have. The main reason for your computer accessing network resources is usually shitty hardware. If you are usuing your first comp as a router with 2 modems for dial up you are screwed anyways because you are sharing 7k between two comps. Make sure you have the right protocols set up in the right binding order.
