Thanks everyone. And ya, I'll be living in the place I choose for probably 6 months. So I don't give a shit about luxury, and not so much about partying. I just wanna be a cheap ski bum, and ride the best terrain there is.

there is a fun hostel somewhere in austria, and located right at some decent ski slopes. forget the name, but check on hostels.com or hostelworld.com

don't know if you'd want to be there for a whole 6 months, but it'd be a cool stop on your trip, and it's very cheap

i live in switzerland currently and im going snowboarding in the winter for sure.
Im in Bulle atm, about an hour away from Geneva..theres some nice slopes here, it costs like 50CHF a day...i dont know if you have gear or not but yeah that would be extra..
