If you want to put him out of his misery politely, just tell him you suffer from an acute form of amnesia and tend to forget a lot of people that you don't have that high an opinion of. It's really not too difficult, and if heresponds with yet another email, just hit back with

"Huh? Who are you ?"

That should do the trick.
