I can bosh to it in small doses, but that's about it.
Yeah. I saw Boys Noize up here last year and had never even heard of him before. I jammed out for the first two or three tracks of his set, then got bored because from then on out it was the exact same shit for two or three hours. Same with most of the Coachella EDM tent this year. It was PACKED for all of the Ed Banger-ish artists that all sounded THE EXACT FUCKING SAME FOR THE WHOLE FUCKING DAY. Yet when Sasha & Digweed, Zabiela or Junkie XL came on, the tent was less than half-full.

Speaking of indie/electronic, that Midnight Juggernauts album is great.
The Juggernauts are awesome, I saw them a few months ago and it was just huge I really like them, Boyz Noize, Van She, !!! and a few others in that vane, but SMD annoy me for some reason. Might be the hype that surrounds them or the attitude of their fans... That whole scene really has problems in terms of the crowd it draws, I've been to quite a few shows where the crowd were just arrogant, unfriendly and pushy. A lot of them really think that they're somehow special because they listen to "underground" music, which sort of puts me off this whole scene a bit. The Juggernauts gig wasn't like that which was excellent.
I'm into the more 80's electronic sounding guys instead of the more rock-oriented stuff.
Soulwax/2MANYDJS doesn't really do it for me; but give me Chromeo, Lifelike, Fred Falke, Cut Copy, Knightlife, Anoraak, Xinobi, etc any day of the week
Actually making a nice mix including that stuff sometime next week.
I was joking, but thank you.

dont hate. just accept times change. did you really think people would be rolling their faces off to sasha forever? shit gets old eventually and people move on. it was not the rave laws, it was people getting tired of it. there are still raves, just its not as appealing anymore. people hold raves at this warehouse in my town once every few months, and they try hard to get people to show up. the djs in my area that had a big following and packed the clubs are now working as bartenders or as car salesmen, its really sad to see one of them and say "holy crap, you're <> ! what happened? you used to have a packed crowd every sat night, you really rocked it back then" and they will say they still have their occasional gig at the hard rock casino (place in my area) and will explain things arent like they used to be. trance is dead because it got old. deep house is dead because we got tired of hearing aunt jamiama singing gospel shit and fruity horns and violins, electro house is dead because it got old (and had way less room for creativity in its sound). and soon techy minimalish house will be dead too.
parties at my house, when we walk in the door from a night of drinking, if the whoever dj (its always someone different) turns on the decks in my kitchen and plays minimal, the girls will immediately go to the back to have a cigarette and say "umm, can we have something with like, you know, WORDS?". but if the dj starts off with rockin party music like chromeo fancy footwork (guns n bombs remix) or cazwells remake of that old classic "is it all over my face" (gay as it is, the fag hags rock out to it), or junkie xl - fuck more ... it gets the party going. THEN, later on, we play the tech house and minimal, and the girls LOVE it. next thing you know the sun is coming up.
point is, this new indie electro rock mashy stuff will make you want to shoot yourself in the head if you listen to nothing but that style for more than an hour. the thing that most djs and the dance world in general (which is in bad shape right now) needs to get through their thick f'n skull is PLAY SOME FUKN VARIETY for chrsts sake. that's what dj'ing used to be all about in the old days. instead, there seems to be these rules out there like ... OH MY GOD MUST BEATMATCH PERFECTLY (look at me ma i can match beats together, im an artist -woopdee doo), DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS, and other rules like BASS CUTS (oooh wow did you learn that one from richie?)
saying this indie dance rock is trendy is like saying party music is trendy. if you want to see trendy bullshit, go to minimal parties that showcase the newest laptop twinkie that broke onto the scene that knows how to make minimal tracks but doesnt have a clue how to rock a party and keep a party going - there you might see oversized glamour sunglasses, t shirts with a witty underlying meaning written on them, pumas, t shirts where the v neck goes down to the sternum, majority of people wearing black or close to it, and now the newest thing is girls looking like a flower child from the 60's with a headband on. thats seriously fukn treeeennndy.
even worse is when the local minimal dj plays sis - trumpet or hugo - the sloop because he jerked off at home to it watching ricardo play it on some youtube clip of a festival in europe. and then they dont even play it at a proper bpm to make people move. and then they make excuses when the floor is not packed saying things like "its the people in this small town, they dont get it, i need to move to new york chicago or la where people have a clue". they are up there playing because they promoted themselves to death, not because they learned the basics first which is rocking a party at home. its killing the dance scene and giving house music a bad name. but i digress... just keep an open mind, theres different music for different situations, dont play the 5am music at 11pm. try to make everyone happy, not just forcing your idea of music on people.

Well, to be honest I had never heard of most of the groups mentioned before I read this thread, but I listened to a couple songs from each and as far as I can tell they're pretty crap.

Yeah, isn't that just the same old story as ever?
"If you want the girls to dance, just play some shitty sing-along house with a catchy bassline or chorus."
And indeed, other genres may fall in and out of limelight in just a few years' time, but plain old sing-along house will spring eternal, because DJs everywhere must try to get themselves and their patrons laid.
