I managed to pick up an M-Audio Delta 66, and I absolutely LOVE the quality. 4 analog ins and outs and one digital in/out. No onboard MIDI, so I'm using a SoundBlaster Live! for that. It was a real bitch to get the two cards working together, but once I got it, they've played nice together ever since.
Removing the SB is simple, pop open the case, unscrew the mounting screw, pull the card. And of course the most important step: smash the card repeatedly with a hammer!

he hee i havent got a screwdriver to remove the card, but i have got a hammer
Guess how im going to remove the soundcard
UPS are gonna deliver it today!!! cant wait + it hope it goes well.
ive got hubi's loopback installed ready for use with vaz modular too.
And ive got a tune in sooooooo happy with ready to put online by this weekend hopefully.
I'd go for Audiophile as it has the best sound. Hence the name
I believe you get better sound quality if you go for Audiophile and get a decent mixer and a decent mic preamp (i.e. joe meek). The quality of a the preamps is much better than on built in mic preamps on most soundcards, besides how much do you think you have to pay for a soundcard with 10- or perhaps 16 inputs? Mucho mucho expensivo.
I wouldn't get a behringer mixer, I've got one and I think it's way too noisy. They use cheap components and use cheap solutions to make their mixers as cheap as possible.
I don't think any of those cards are bad, it's just that I think Audiophile has the best soundquality
I know that the RME are cool card...also because are all expandible

just got my Delta 66 installed. the sound is just f****** amazing!! so crisp and clean! should have gotten rid of my soundblaster a while ago
those still using soundblaster should go get themselves a better card while I save up for a good pair of monitors now

Amen to that! I used to think SB cards were pretty good, but once you compare them to 24/96 cards, they're @#$%. I will give SB this: they are versitile cards (MIDI, wavetable, etc.), but the sound quality is just lacking in comparison.
Sage: Congrats on the new Delta 66 card.
I wish I could afford monitors. Spent all my $$ on new TT's & a mixer. Money well spent though!

If your looking for good monitors the k-roks have very good specs, and above all have a good bass sound.
You might want to look at powered monitors as it would save on space and having to pay out for a good quality amp too!
Just installed my terratec 8i/o card!!! I means i can have vaz modular running and have separate outs for kick drums, claps etc for eq'ing and fx in my desk. Woo hoo!
