Montreal sure knows how to throw a party I must say.

FINALLY got to see Calderone spin...and I loved every second of it. Yes Grindhouse is played everywhere I agree...but Victor dropped it at the perfect time. Crowd went insane causing simply one of my most intense moments on a dancefloor. I still get chills thinking about it.

Set up for the Beach Club is really good...lots of space to walk around..although very rammed...but hey...one of the nicest days of the summer I've experienced so I'm not complaining. Well worth the money and the trip up.

Managed to get to Stereobar that night...not sure who the two guys playing were but WOW.

Pure. Banging. Triabl. Tunes.

Place was not busy but I did not care. I was in the city and had to get a Stereo fix somehow and did I get it. The magic surrounding "858 Ste Catherine St E" is like nothing I can get anywhere else I've been too. I wanted to just grab the rafters and swing from them... (but one other guy was doing that so I let him have the glory of that move!) Can not wait for the upcoming anniversary times in November.

Summary:
The music grabbed me this weekend, and wouldn't let go.

hey hey... tom tom led us to the exact address that the website said. it's not my fault that beachclub's address is nowhere near where the actual club is.

and yes i will admit that i should've followed the signs that said "beachclub" instead of trusting the gps. lol. even as we passed the exit that we took last time i said to everyone "that's the way we went last time".

Ugh, don't want to even get into the tribal argument, it's a losing battle for me.

The guys who played at Stereobar were Bruno Brown and Erik El. I would agree with the statement they play a more tribal sound as I have seen them many times and they always rock it out.

Victor Calderone's set was mostly tribal tech and minimal but I don't think he really, really rocked it out, nor was he that comfortable with the massive crowd. I was in the dj booth for most of his set, and it was really cool of him to hang out for Danny Torrence's set right after, as most other headlining DJs would just take right off.

We were talking for a while and he said basically only Carlos Fauvrelle is making anything close to decent tribal sounds. VC said he still would like to play tribal once in a while, but unfortunately there is no more good tribal being made.

He's really digging the sounds of guys like Radio Slave, Paul Ritch, Dubfire, etc. He's no more about the big buildups and crazy break downs...those days are long gone.

Victor's better in a room with 300 to 900 people...like Stereo or Cielo. I think he's playing in Montreal again in Septemeber, and he's going to be here Thanksgiving Sunday at CiRCA with Roger Sanchez. He's playing the after hours set...hopefully it will be in the ballroom at CiRCA, but we'll see...
