That moose story isn't all that uncommon. There is a 'call' list for moose that get hit in downtown Anchorage. Sort of a first come first serve sort of thing for the meat. People hunt moose up here - but in the city limits it is illegal. I guess people hit moose a lot in the winter - and it is one easy way to stock up on food that is fresh.
