there is a big difference between space #4....
which turned out being two fishes opera, a track by emmanuel top, which was given a proper release release. only being ignored a bit,

...and rojam #9, which the only info we have on is that it's by an amateur from germany and that was only because dragonemerald remembered the test reaction sheet from his mates collection, and was not given a full release iirc

I'm not saying you're going to run down to your closest Virgin Megastore and find one... I'm just saying these things get IDed and people find them.

I agree, it's unlikely this will get IDed at this point. But I'm glad people bring these things up every now and then... You never know who sees it, and what can happen.

Oakie should come out and ID it or give some sort of info about it, since it was so long ago, why not? It's not like its going to change anything other than help the producer. Maybe it was a stolen track by Oakie, and he doesn't wanna get shite for it. There is something odd about it that's for sure. There is plenty of demand for it to be released and money to be made!

well that's all just speculation. who knows what the story is. the person could be dead, not producing anymore, etc. who knows.

and i *seriously* doubt oakie is ever going to ID stuff like this. heck where the hell are all of his records over the years. and are they all catalogued? probably not. chances are he received this as a whitelabel with little to no information on it. or maybe the sheet has since been lost. again speculation, but you see where i'm going with this.

Of course its speculation, thats all we have Maybe you are right about the guy being dead...why with it having sooooo much attention has the producer not stepped up??? Makes sense. Oakie killed him in a bar fight, or coke deal gone bad.

yeah, anyone really think DJs know the titles of the thousands of tracks they played over the years?

i can't even remember what i played last week, ffs. i'm not oakey, but still. after all those years of alcohol and perhaps drugs, i doubt he'll know what he played last week. it was most likely an unlabeled vinyl anyway.

Didn't the Symphonic Music 12" with the Sunrise mix on it get slipped into Oakenfold's record bag when he wasn't looking at the WMC in 1999?

Maybe something similar happened with this record at the same event or somewhere else. Who knows, weren't both the Sunrise mix of Symphonic Music and this unknown tune played only the one time in the Shanghai set. If this record was slipped into his bag and there isn't any identifiable marks on the vinyl then how would Oakie or anyone else besides the producer know the name of the song?

I read a Sasha interview recently where he said that he never knew the names of tracks when he was playing vinyl, because he used to identify them in his crate by the colour and design of the sleeve when he was DJing. If this track was on white (which it probably was) the chances of Oakey remembering it aren't very high at all.

J00f doesnt really use names either.

Unfortunately if Dragonsemeralds friend got a total white label then the chances are Oakey did too anyway, so no point asking him.

Now if I was DEs friend I'd be going through my 1000s of whites to find this and see if theres anything identifiable about the text in the vinyl groove

Seriously, I would.

I think the TA's should organize a mass Oakie managerial pounding and e-mail/confront the shit out of his manager and see if we can't get Oakie to come fourth with some info about this track. I'm sure either Oakie or his assistants can get some info about this tune. Getting it released on Perfecto should be enough encouragement to make them do something about it.

Perfecto arent digitally releasing their backcatalogue, so I wouldnt call Oakie or his record company staff the bastion of common sense that that would require
