-isnt fuel the biggest price airlines face? I flew monarch last summa to ibiza and i rem the dinner plate was some kinda napkin instead of a plate. the steward man got on the mike and told everyone that buy switching to those napkins it would save 3 million pounds (money) a year

unless they could figure out a way for prices to be substantially lower that other airlines for average weight people.. which probably wouldn't happen.

Right, that's if you eat the napkin, and leave the food to be re-frozen for the next flight.

(Don't worry - the food is actually papier-mâché, so the napkin is more nutritious anyway)

They do charge people for a second seat..but, i'm wondering how this is determined.do they weigh the person??..and if they don't...wouldn't that make the decision subjective rather than objective..??

all in all, must be a very uncomfortable experience for all parties involved...

I was going to be charged 60 pounds for 10kg over a couple of years back so I, in the middle of the check in, swapped my little shoes for boots, put another couple of tops on and had 3 cardis and 2 coats. It meant I only paid 10 pounds and I still wasn't as fat with all that on as the woman behind me.

I was fucking hot though.

This rational does make sense if seat prices could vary according to a formula which includes body weight IF the passenger has a BMI higher than 30 which accounts for gender and height. Logically, this would save airline companies a lot of money but I'm sure they're thought of this strategy already and opted not to put this into effect for fear of pissing off customers....

I think it goes against basic human rights to charge someone for what they weigh.

it is one thing if the person is taking up two seats. But if the person can fit it one seat...then it is downright rude to charge them.

I disagree

I think each passenger should be allowed 100kg to be made up of themselves and their luggage... if every kg is so precious on a plane, why should one party pay for another?

When this is happening... http://news.carrentals.co.uk/airlin...t-3423314.html, every kg counts!

I totally agree that it would piss people off but I don't think it is against human rights

Oh, and what "basic human right" would that be?

I certainly can't remember reading anything like that in the Charter, or the U.S. Constitution, or even the U.N.'s utopian declaration...
