traktor 3 doesn't support timecode though, does it? unless you upgrade from traktor scartch of course. which will end up costing you 599 + 99 = 698 € vs. 99 + 399 = 498€ for traktor 3 and audio 8 dj. for most people traktor scartch will do just fine, i'd think. that is, if they don't need more than 2 decks. and of course if you're not gonna use timecode, no point in getting traktor scratch. just traktor 3 and some sound card (audio 8 dj for example).

also is ableton really owned my NI?

also, to have two 1ds that would require two usb ports, yes? i have a macbook pro 15" which only has two usb ports. what would i do for my audio 8 dj and serato scratch live?

Yes, they recommend NOT plugging the audio 8 or serato interfaces into a hub, and I've experienced the oddities it causes first hand (audio dropouts, things just plain not working, etc).

Multiple Midi controllers on a USB hub is no problem.

Of course you could get a Xone 2D and not use the audio 8, but that's big money

Yeah that's something I'm figuring out too late. If I hadn't already purchased the audio 8 I would have seriously considered that.

I think I'm all set then by plugging multiple midi controllers into a hub in one port, and the audio 8 straight into the other port.
