Plus, I use the keyboard as a next gen VST controller in the studio.
The Polar is a sexy bit of kit, no denying it, but IMO it has no real practical benefits over a ti desktop + midi controller combo. And ofc, the desktop version is quite a bit cheaper..

I don't agree. It may be a personal thing but since I have a virus KC I instantly noticed that I use it more often then I did when I only had a Virus C desktop. Having a seperate midi-keyboard did not help for me (sold it now because it was broke and the Virus KC keys are way better anyway).

As I said it's probably a personal thing. But from now on I aim on buying synths with keys . It just works better for me in terms of workflow.

Go for the desktop. Your paying $1000 bucks more for just the keyboard on the Polar as they are identical otherwise. I've got my desktop Ti sitting on top of a Matrix 6 Oberheim that was bought in 1986 with a full keyboard and it does the job just fine.

Noob question here.... Would it be possible for somebody with a desktop to post a photo showing how it's set up? I'm having a bit of difficulty. I know some of you are going to say "why did you buy one if you don't even know how to set it up?", but the truth is I only bought it while I could afford it, otherwise my money would of went to complete waste Any help would be brilliant!

Thanks in advance

Desktop all the way. You can rack-mount it. The polar is just gonna sit somwhere and take up room. Way too clunky.

The same thing can be said about the desktop version - they both take up room, ya know. Some people don't have the extra rack space and are just going to sit their TI on a desktop anyway, where - guess what - it's going to take up space. The real questions are, how do you intend to use it and do you have an existing keyboard controller? For me, the Polar is perfect because it sits right there in front of me and functions, not only as a fantastic synth, but also as a MIDI controller (with very nice keyboard action, I might add - can't say that about the desktop). The point is: what works for you is not necessarily what works for everybody else.

Don't have a photo, nor do I have the desktop version, but I can tell you that a photo is only going to show you that the power cord is plugged into an electric socket and the USB cable is plugged into the computer. That's all you need to run the Virus in "TI" mode. Install the software, follow the instructions. Then, open your DAW and insert an instance of the Virus Control VST and synthesize your little heart out.

The Polar looks better, but the only "proper" advantage are the keys. I would personally buy a separate controller, however if you have the cash handy I suppose it wouldn't hurt buying the Polar. Bear in mind that both are the exact same in terms of performance.

Back again guys, Desktops fully functioning Anyway as i'm extremely lazy and don't really have the time to browse through over 2000 presets, does anyone fancy recommending me any good trance presets that this baby has? I will eventually browse through them all, but just for now to keep me occupied

Thanks in advance

Yet again, I have a problem... Whenever I type notes on to the piano roll and hit play, it plays the notes, but in the wrong order they're placed. It keeps going out of time

Please help
