Yes, I thought that too. But in most cases when voice is just turned out of the pitch, out of key... no matter how perfectly you adjust the voice processing it, eq it, and tweaking it. It always will sound poor and unnatural.
And as Kopi said, it depends on a lot of factors. He is asking for a Vocal software, so melodyne helps a lot in the process since it just about vocals. Other things will be processors VST's or something else.
Voice is the main instrument in many tracks, the common problem is in the final mix, we should remember that it must have its own spectrum space and so we need to cutoff certain frequencies, but very carefully. Trial & Error.
Try Sonalksis SV-517, is a great eq, I've used in some voices and it always bring some bright to them. |
Heh, I disagree with you actually...
Pitch isn't everything, sometimes you don't need perfect pitch. Good tone counts for a lot more in most cases, and you can GENTLY nudge some off notes back on. At some point you do become better with a complete retake though its true.
Melodyne doesn't just do vocals BTW, its actually SUPPOSED to be a full DAW, it just happens to have amazing time/pitch manipulation.
I also really disagree about vocal eqing, I find it quite important to avoid EQ as much as possible, using more than 3 DB gives a very unnatural sound, and I think its important to keep the Q as wise as possible (unless removing something specific). But I'm sure it depends on your purpose and voice type.
I do love sonalksis too, not sure its neccesary for this, but its a pleasure to use.
