yeah Q-Bert style scratching is a different league...

I just think that to have a a general handle on the scratching could help some dj's. I never heard the Dj Jean thing (was that his needle damage track?) but I was at an underground party and half way through this guys set he starts messing with Booty House vocals over raw techno (which was sublime) he then went into some scratching over the tech beat and the whole place went mental.

needle damage is a DJ Dan track, out of moonshine records. it's a badass vynil, definitly worth owning... The moonshine vynil has (if i recall properly at the moment) 3 remixes of the track including a hella phat d'n'b remix by sniper

I picked this one up last weekend

as far as scratching, i think it does nothing but mess up a trance set.. there's not many places it would fit it well.

Now d'n'b, hiphop/rap, and even at some points in hardhouse, it can be tasteful.

and yes, it's MUCH harder to learn than beatmatching! I'll worry about beatmatching and good transitions before i attempt to learn how to scratch.. lol

scratching is wicked when it is incorporated into hard hard trance or hard house. especially over a simple techno style rythym, scratching can turn places into a madhouse. its crazyness

scratching can be incorperated into trance...though it has to be the right style of scratching...and it has to be timed precisely to keep the flow of a track

a prime example of this is hybrid
listen to their live in sydney cd

there is a point where they actually use scratching to add to a build up and it makes the song so much better

i personally wouldn't mind learning how to beat juggle, however i don't want to try and learn because i know ill damage my needles and my records from countless practice andi dont have money for new needles right nw

and i don't want to fuck up my cross fader just yet
