You know a good portion of the time we have no choice but to drive. In a lot of the smaller cities and towns there is no subway, or bus system. Things are spread out and scattered throughout the city/town and it’s just not feasible, nor is it practical to walk or bike to the other end of town to get something from the store. In cities like Boston and NYC, there is a subway system that will take you basically anywhere in the city and if you notice a great deal of the people walk everywhere. In cities like those it’s efficient to walk. But, in more rural cities and towns it’s just not. This doesn’t mean drive to a 5 min destination, but if you need to go somewhere that will take you a great deal of time to walk to, it’s practical to drive.
