Ya, it's tomato sauce... just plain. The dough's texture is much too glutinous. Though I am sure it would be different in other countries where it is made to perfection, however it's not the same as a similar one I had at a bakery in Madrid, where there the sauce had a delightful blend of herbs on a crispy on the outside and fluffy dough which felt like balerinas dancing on my palate.
