It' all about the layout and build quality and Vestex got them both right. To be honest when I first saw this I thought the $900 price tag was just too good to be true, I'd happily buy this even if it was $1500. For Ableton users this will be the only controller needed for years to come.

For that kind of money, you might as well just buy a real mixer

If it's as solid as their other products, I will buy one the day it's out.

It has the same quality as their other controllers. Apparently Vestex is the only manufacture who realizes that midi controllers too need to have a high quality construction. Just because you want to move to digital shouldn't mean that you have to deal with crappy knobs and faders.

I'm saving for one of these at the mo. Can't wait to be able to use this with Ableton.

Unless its metal and really incredibly well made, I think that its obscenely expensive. Probably even then would only be worth $400 IMO. But I do appreciate that finally someone has made the effort to make a decent ableton controller.

It is metal and very well made. Vestax has always put out products with good build quality.

I demoed this last week in Madison. I will be purchasing one, and actually debated trying to pre-order it.

Rock solid build quality, everything, EVERYTHING is fully assignable.

Hello digital is what I say.

Well, thats to their credit, still seems overpriced though, especially given that you still need a soundcard. Now if they built a 4 channel soundcard in, that would justify the price.

I would agree with that, but honestly - they put so much effort into creating a decent feeling flexible control surface, the lack of a sound card really felt less painful after playing around with it.

I don't know if it's worth a grand, but I'd probably pay close to that.

I'd love to demo it in person before really determining its worth tbh. My gut instict is that it's not worth the price without built-in soundcard, but then again, I'd probably be pretty seduced by the thought of a usable MIDI controller that didn't feel like a toy.
