If Iran does have nukes, which I doubt (so far), they are strictly a deterrent. It's the "if you invade or attack us..." weapon. Any nuclear strike by Iran would pretty much mean resigning themselves to living in a giant glass-floored parking lot int he middle-east.

Besides, the technological sophistication of a fission bomb is prohibitive by nature. Any moron can put whatever radioactive material they can find into a briefcase and pack it with conventional explosives to create a dirty bomb - which has the potential to be just as effective as nuclear device at a fraction of the cost and effort.

Irans best bet to cause serious shit, is to provide 'independent' terrorist outfits with chemical and biological agents, or rough radio isotopes - which seems like the case right now.

That said, I'm thinking the pirates are seriously regretting taking control of that ship.

I hope the US does bribe them and find out exactly what this all-to-Iranian ship is carrying. The whole situation just stinks.
