Dude, if you live in Canada/ specifically Ontario DO NOT tell any medical professional this, you will be in a non padded room druged up on really crappy drugs before you know it.
Here is the deal:
When you sleep your brain enters a different "brainwave state". Some people have latency when waking up or overtired, or after attuning their brain waves to a specific state. Not only can we imagine things but we can also non actively experience stimulus at random when our brain fires along a specific neuronal pathway. There are different pathways the brain takes based upon different blockers and keys. Eg. the different chemicals in your brian will make some receptivity (of different neuron types and positions able to transfer your "electro" portin of your electrochemical interaction.
Where you brain actually senses stimulus is a little issued but none the less all you need to know is that there are different operating states, and that some people have portions of their brain active that other people may not.
This means while you see a shadow it "may" be in the physical world - but it "may actually be a projection of your conciousness into that aspect of physical reality. Thus an individual experience.
people who experience "hallucinations" simply mean that they experience non corpreal brain functions. People who do often are seen as people who hav faulty brain function because "we are suppose to be locked in a physical reality" not in our own reality, one that may be creative or personal - especially when it is transient to the physical world, rather that housed within a framework of "the creative segment that we conciously project into the world" that is controlled manifestation of reality vs. uncontrolled stimulus response to events which we do not create knowingly. - concious vs unconcious creation.
For instance at age 12 or so I saw a gray skin at the foot of my bed.. I was paralyzed, it seemed cold but inquisitive, meanwhile I was frightened.
Later on I saw a prying mantis type alien who seemed very loving oddly... but worried???
I've had many instances of waking up with a song in my head angelic or otherwise or a segment of a dream.
I've also had experiences of visual distortion when waking up, or my eyes still being in REM. It is very strange.
none the less I recognize these things as brain wave transitions effectively, much like a lucid or non lucid dream state we may be aware of an alternate reality, but perceiving the sensual difference between these states is vital and they do have different feelings.
These are not the only "weird" things that have happened in my life.
BUT do not underestimate the potentials of reality, they are almost unlimited. But the thing is is that whatever the reality, unless you have proof you cannot proove it happened FOR real in the shared reality. Thus do not treat it like it is a social experience. But I highly advice treating all things you expereince as "real experience" just not per se " social experiences with different aspects of society.. such as doctors - espeically psychiatrists".
I beleive in the spirtual, I beleive in "aliens", I beleive in everything the mind can fantasize, I beleive in gods and god, and mythos, and fiction.. these are all real things, our life is not limited, but it works easier sometimes in a scientific skinner box, because we know all the rules, einstien and a few others made them - because that is what they experienced, and that is what others experienced, people like stability, order and expected occurences, they do not like to be a waking dreamer paralyzed - and they wll make you that if you threaten their stable reality the laws of that reality, just ask jesus.
There are no rules. | Get a core version but from what i took a glance at, No you are wrong, how do you explain wheni saw it 4 years ago?
I live right in front of a basketball court, i was in the balcony yet again 4 years ago but it was only 11 PM, everything was shut down exept for one of the lights on the basketball court... then i saw the shadow again... no one at all
and i was perfectly fine, i was not sleepy, not drunk, not just woken up, no nothing.. just normal.

actually, after everything he said... that does remind me of one time when I was a child. I was sleeping with my bedroom door open, and woke up in the middle of the night. outside of my door you could see the living room. I remember just looking out in the dark and I saw little black shadows scurrying all over the room -- all over the floors, walls, ceiling. we've never had a problem with rats or anything, but I decided to get up and check it out. from the walk from my bed to the living room, all the shadows started disappearing.
I never considered it as anything paranormal, I just thought it was a regular case of sleep walking (and I believe the only case I've ever been through in my life). I'm just saying, since the OP saw this after waking up at 5am, maybe it was some type of case of sleep walking.
