JUNO REACTOR

That should do it. I saw them perfom in Los Angeles sometime last week and recorded lots of GREAT video. I guess I should edit+upload already...

But really, check them out!!!

Juno reactor are good, and they're mostly goa/acid trance/ambient however they're not much at all like shpongle.

If you like shpongle/the infinity project also check out mystery of the yeti, its like a more tribal version of TIP's ambient stuff. Well actually raja ram and simon posferd working together on that too, along with a few other very talented people.

That is a weak assessment. Juno Reactor is one of those acts that transcends genre. Electronic music with real thought behind it isn't that common... and you demean it by simply referring to it as (of all things) "acid trance" or whatever, which isn't even remotely accurate.

Shpongle is Simon Posford and Raja Ram. There is no crossover with Infected Mushroom although Erez, Duvdev, and Jorg made a tribute track called "The Messenger" many years ago that every Shpongle/IM fan should check out. Also on that trajectory: the Psyknights album.

I'm just saying, they're quite different feelings, and if your looking for an ambient act then you probably won't want a downtempo one.

Their first album was borderline acid trance, and they had acid influences on the second... I never said they weren't unique, but they're hardly anything like shpongle apart from being the general psy/goa and related crossovers.

anyway, I really don't know, but they're not much like shpongle anyways

Yeah, they do. Can't tell you how good they are though, 'cause I missed them when they were playing around here.

Their first album was released in 1993 and their second in 1995. Where were you in those years? Were you even born? My point is that they have evolved. Shango broke the mold and Labyrinth obliterated it. Just as Shpongle is not simply psytrance or downtempo, neither is Juno Reactor. I don't think it is so far off-base to suggest that if someone likes Shpongle they might like Juno Reactor as well, not because they sound alike but because they both sound so different from anything else. And that is the point right there--these artists transcend genres. Generally speaking, the only producers that really deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Shpongle are acts like Juno Reactor, Eat Static, and Infected Mushroom (love 'em or hate 'em). So, the recommendation stands.
