Well, you can't have otherwise you would know that you only need one laptop to DJ. Also, you want a PA setup and Visualization system and a laptop based mixing system? Effectively you want a mobile DJ rig?
You're going to have to part with at least a couple of grand for even the most basic total system.
Bear in mind, that with a laptop, if it goes down or the drive gets corrupted, your screwed and could loose your entire music collection, if not backed up.
Also, if you've only learnt to mix on a laptop and you're at a gig/club and it goes down, you can't just whip out a small CD case and and get on the CDJ's, because you won't know how.
I learnt on vinyl, moved to CDJ's (have both) but regually use serato (which is great).
I also, don't really like the idea of always looking at a screen to mix - it detracts from the tactile relationship with decks and therefore the performance aspect of a set, resulting in IMO, in more boring music.
My advice is that if you've never mixed before, go to a shop (like guitar centre) and demo a DVS and CDJ's. Decide which one you like, then come back here for advice on what kit is better than others. |
Well I did research them, I guess just not enough. I'll test them out some time before I get one of them. Also, I've been looking at getting used equipment also so maybe that will bring the price down a bit. Your point about the software or laptop crashing is definitely valid. I almost want to get just CDJ's now and forget the laptop set up.
