I think forum wiseguys fall into the same category as hecklers. Some of them if you look at their history, 99% of their posts are negative, they hate DJs, hate music, hate clubs, etc. If anyone talks about a project, they will be there with a put-down. Got to wonder if there is ANYTHING they like and why they don't go hang out someplace they actually would comment positively or constructively about something.

Good luck on the book, yeah I read about Francis Grasso before and how he was one of the first of the modern DJs.

The one constant this site has, is people looking for others to do their work for them.

-find me tunes
-help me how to figure out my cracked copy of *insert software*
-justify my music tastes
-do all my research for me

over and over and over and over again.

While i do not accuse the OP of being a shit writer, because he has the exact same resources to find the same material it becomes tiresome
to see tons of threads in which google would be able to help...especially if it is a project that is for monetary gain.

Would you solve your work problems on an internet forum? What would this say about the quality of worker you are?

Go ahead and search peoples posts, and dwelve into psychological analysis leaned from a television set...that alone speaks immensely about you.

It is no different than the dj who can not perform the most basic of techniques, yet gigs.

There is nothing more funny than a pseudo intellectual.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you've been a member here since February?

I'll agree similar topics are covered here often but every now and again you get a gem of thread and it's really interesting to see what people's opinions are. I know I still check back here multiple times a day, often with no movement in the Dj Booth but I still come back here just in case a nice new thread has started.

Recess has every right to ask us for our opinions and our help.

I'm one of those people who believes if there are two ways of doing something, and the outcome is the same. Why make life difficult on yourself, do it the easier way. (to extent obviously some situations warrant a little more effort, or situations might merit hard work etc)

Anyway, he was only looking for a picture..
So far no one has found one.

I tried looking on gettyimages.ie as this is a website we use at work to purchase imagery but I'm sure there are many many other websites out there that might allow you to purchase an image seeing as you have had no luck in finding one online.

Have you ever thought about trying to contact him or his record label or anyone else connected to him to see if they could help you?

Yeah, I tried all the photo libraries too - rexfeatures, getty, paphotos, bigpictures - lots and lots of places - and then thought I'd try posting something in here to see if anyone else had any thoughts.

Only to be greeted by elFreak.

The funny thing is, it's not in my contract to hunt for pics - the publisher hit a wall trying to get some (Grasso has unfortunately left this earth) and asked if I had any leads. I'll continue the hunt, but it looks as though the hunt is getting thin.

And one last thought on our argument elFreak - there's many kinds of people on this earth - I choose to be one of the people who helps, no matter how repetitious the question. You've no idea how many times in the 12 years I've been helping new DJs I've been asked 'What decks should I get' 'CD or vinyl' 'Where can I get good tunes' 'Belt Drive or Direct Drive' 'Serator or Traktor'???? Over, and over, and over - and each time, I answer them, and each time I'm polite and give them my opinion, one which changes through time and experience.

And I'm happy with that - I like to help, and so do loads of the other posters on this forum, hence my appeal for their help.

It kinda reminds me of the time some one stood in the street screaming at me, calling me a ginger sheep-shagger because I 'dared' to give away the 'secrets' of DJing. I don't see this is as the case - I teach the foundations so the new DJ can discover his/her own skills - a leg up through the obvious. Some of them will discover something great, some of them, as you say, will be terrible, yet miraculously still get work.

My search for a picture was along these lines. I'd exhausted all avenues I could think of - so thought I'd come on here for either direct help, or some inspiration as to where else I might look for an image of him.

Still, no joy - and all it's served to do is create an interesting discussion between you and I, and drag in a few others to our argument. I'm sure you have some grounding for being so angry about this subject, and it's probably got strong foundation - I simply go back to the original statement of not making accusations based on one line of a post, you tarred me as unprofessional, lazy, and shitty - without knowing a single thing about me or the search I was performing.

I wish you all the luck in your DJ development, and your development on this earth - but urge you to consider all aspects of a viewpoint before making such defamatory statements in the future.

John.

I have to say the negative responses on this thread are unwarranted.

I don't think it's lazy or a mark of pseudo intellectualism to go on to a forum about the subject matter to ask other people involved in that industry if they know where to find any images of one of the founders of that subject. Proof of that is one of us was able to recall an obscure hardcopy article with such images, and a potential lead.

I know what you mean elFreak about the repetition of threads and lazy posting, but IMO this is not one of them.

I am sick to death of "what headphones should I buy", "what soundcard" or "What monitors should I buy" because not single one of those cun7s has thought, maybe, just maybe, this might have been asked before and/or figured out that there is a search button at the top of the forum page, just desperate to give them information.

There is also a ridiculous amount of just plain stupid threads such "I've got a gig, what should I play?" or "What music is cool" or "I've got a gig, now how do I mix?". Yes they drive me crazy, but the problem here, And I've said this so many times is that we don't have any active mods.

There are at least 3 people I can think of right now who check the forums on a near hourly basis, would do it for nothing and have a great level of experience to offer, that a lot of people would be greatful for.

Until we get a mod, this bullshit will continue to repeat and the value of tranceaddict.com will continue to decline.

honestly, you're pushing it now dude, there's no need to what you're doing here, the original poster asked a really simple question and you're trying to act hard like the other 900 guys on this forum who act the same way. Something like this shouldn't even bother you, why do you get involved in the first place?

WOW people throw a fit because the man comes onto a forum FULL of DJ's to see if anyone has a picture for use in his book and it becomes a flame war? No wonder bloggers are the the creme of the crop of hating.

Childish Prick is a term that comes to mind. Just to side with Recess on this one. ElFreak whens the last time you wrote anything (or did anything for that fact) that your name (or alias) is know by anyone outside of your quaint little town or an internet forum?

Get back to this thread when you have are a published author and only then let your fingers press keys to form words and have an opinion
