I know I don't have the knowledge of the booking process that you do, but I've always wondered why you have to "work on" getting a dj to play longer? If they are there, why can't they just go on whenever you ask? Are they just greedy?

But anyways, Guetta actually seems pretty good for a house dj, so I will see if I can't go. He had to have become popular for some reason, hopefully he is really good.

Almost all big DJs work under a contract........everything is listed from travel, accommodation, compensation, Equipment that DJ request, so on and so forth....

Not many of them are gonna work for free if contract only ask them to play for "x" hours for "x" amount

Exactly. Consider it a script of a play that is actually a legally bound document.

That's what I kind of thought. It is a little bit based on greed then. If I was a big dj and I was already at the venue and I knew the fans would appreciate a longer set, I'd do my best to do it.

You need to look at the bigger picture to a touring DJ. You need to factor in the ending a gig the night before at 3:00am, getting to bed at 4am. Waking up at 11AM getting ready traveling to the airport, catching a flight. Flight time, arriving in the next city, transportation time to the hotel. So figure it is now 5 or 6 pm when you arrive at the hotel of the next city. A lot of these guys have Radio shows, interviews etc that they work on from the hotel. Then they need to eat dinner and get ready for the gig. With all of that its hard to start earlier sets. So it takes time to find out if they will have the extra time to start their sets early or not.

That's true. I understand that. It's just when it's a money issue where it gets a little iffy. I guess we do have to look at the whole picture though.

Honestly its not a money issue with the guys at all, not sure where everyone is getting that from. Its all scheduling.

So in essence - when you work on getting them to go on earlier, you're planning a safe and scheduled time in Atlanta? Props! Never thought something as simple as that could go a long way. But it is true that I would feel much more comfortable as a performer if I knew what was going to happen before I got there.

Is it true that Guetta is one of the most expensive dj's to book? I heard he charges in upwards of 40,000 euro a gig. Is this true?

Is anyone going to this? I'm not really a fan of Guetta but I'd like to go out tonight...Just wish it wasn't $25.
