i have to disagree.
yes, ok, so you can "put on more layers". sure. that's great. so my torso and legs will always be warm. no problem. but what about your face? can you really put on more layers there? how many face masks can you wear before that -20F temp doesn't hurt your skin?
i much rather prefer warm over cold. sure, the warmth and heat can be uncomfortable; and sure you do sweat a lot (especially if its really humid, like here in louisiana); but at least the warmth/heat doesn't HURT your skin.
that bitter cold up in chicago and iowa actually HURT your skin. you step outside and it just was painful.
i'd rather sweat, than shivver uncontrollably. |
Suck it up princess! It is all about acclimation!
Coming from a Midwestern Native... Chicago and Iowa winters... hurting? Man... the south has really softened you Bill.
Why not try on -45 with 50+ kt winds. That shit is cold. The occasional near zero with barely -5 windchills in the midwest is nothing.
To echo what other people feel - cold > warm. Why? Skiing, Snowboarding, Xcountry Skiing, Snowshoeing (yes this is the colder end of cold), Fall colours, blankets, fireplaces, hot chocolate... I could keep going on.
