It does a bit. The zone 3D is basically a 92 but with 3 EQs instead of 4 and a few more buttons for midi and 2 Xone 1d's attached at the sides..


I'm not 100% sure why he used the 2 Xone 1D's instead of the 3D, i'm guessing it has something to do with weight or maybe he can assign each 1 D seperately (eg.. one to ableton and one to traktor.) not sure..

the faderfoxes have a great reputation and there are plenty of established djs who use them. felt really solid when I used one of em too

Mabey he likes the 4-band EQ on the 92.

I did a lot of research on midi controllers, and many people prefer faderfoxes and say that they're light, reliable, and very professional. Same thing goes for the VCI-100.

i'm gonna selfishly post in this thread asking my own question.

i've been thinking about getting some sort of a controller for the effects and cue and loop functions of traktor scratch (traktor scratch pro in the future).

first i was thinking about the m-audio trigger finger (mainly because it comes with ableton live le so i could use that to re-edit my tracks and because a lot of people seem to be using it). the only problem is that it's a bit too big for me. i wouldn't know where to put it really. it also costs a bit too much considering how little use i'd have for it.

so then i started checking out controllers again today and found the korg nanokontrol.

this would be enough for me most likely and it would most likely fit on my laptop stand right before my laptop. i haven't found any reviews of it yet and i know fuck all about midi controllers. so i'd like to ask if it is possible to assign every button on it to whatever function i want in traktor scratch (and pro)? and would each of the knobs and sliders transmit the full 128 different midi messages, so that it'd be smooth turning the effects knob for example? anything else i should know?

I don't know about using that one for Traktor man, it doesn't have jog wheels and is really not meant for DJing. This is for producing music with a program like Ableton.

i use traktor scratch, so i don't need jog wheels on the controller. like i said, i'd only use it for effects, loops and cues.

The nano pad series IS meant for DJing. There are functions other than for jog wheels and such, like loop and cue triggering.

skip, I believe each of the pads has an assignable function and there are 4 banks, so that's 4x12 = 48 assignable messages. People have reported the nanos being flimsy, although they say the nanokey is the worst and the nanopad being pretty good for the price and the size. Do some more research though, I'm typing this on hearsay.

what do you use the jog wheels for when you are DJing? the only thing you absolutely need jog wheels for is for scratching and scratching isnt really applicable to EDM.... although it can be incorporated if done right

well, i use them for pitch bending because I'm used to bending using a wheel, and for seeking through a track / to a beat. I guess if you set up your cue / load / beatmarker points perfectly for all tracks, you don't need jog wheels.

yeah I bend on the wheel if I am using CDJs but with traktor you might as well just use the sync feature...

And I find it nice and easy just to seek through the track with the mouse right on traktor...
