Actually, I'm one of the lucky ones. Beyond the fact that Canada looks to be able to survive the economic downturn more ably than most countries, my job is quite stable (people will always need food, and I'm in one of the lower-rung pay scales, so if they cut hours, it'll be the guys making double my wage taking the hit). Most of my investments are in GICs, and even though my minor Mutual Funds contributions are diving, they'll eventually rebound, well before I cash out for retirement on them.
So long as I keep my debt manageable and spend wisely, I'll probably weather this current recession fine.
