That's bullshit. I don't think you have to have been a DJ before 18 in order to be recognized. And the 3 job thing, maybe, but I bet those people also had a vinyl-buying addiction. unless ur planning on becoming big when ur 50...u need to be pretty young when u start...it takes a long time before ur fit to play in a club

I love downtown portland. I lived there the majority of my life but recently had to move to tigard (about 20 min away). Really good music scene, Its pretty good for EDM but we have alot of indie and other groups come to portland. Sasha and digweed came to portland last april and that was a wicked show, and AVB came as well but i missed that one. excellent restaurants, unfortunately i am 19 so i cant go to bars but we have some good ones, we have the highest micro brewery's per capita in the US. . somewhat 420 friendly depending on which part of the city, but its still illegal so dont go lightin one up in front of a cop lol (if your into that). Northwest Portland is where its at. Besides some nice scenery, Everywhere else in Oregon is pretty much a miss though, we also have some pretty good mountains for skiing, boarding. i would recommend coming to visit.
