or better yet just let the damn kids have some fun!

I meant Halloween TODAY has nothing to do with religion or death

Most kids have no idea what its roots are. It is just a fun event where you get to dress up and get candy.

Valentine's Day has a religious background as well but now has been completely taken over by commercialism. I really do not see a difference.

Halloween cant offend different religions anymore than the commericalization of Christmas offends some Christains.

It's kind of nuts how some people can't reconcile that while many of these celebrations started as religious festivals they also taken on a wholly secular aspect. Tomorrow I will celebrate the secular festival of Halloween by giving out candy to neighbourhood children and Saturday I will celebrate the religious holiday of All Saints Day by attending mass. On December 25th at 00:00 I will celebrate the birth of Jesus and then from 8am or so on I will celebrate the secular festival of Christmas.

Seeing how it is school - I don't see whats so wrong about putting some education in with that fun.

Didn't say stop them from dressing up / handing out candy / having Halloween parties on Halloween - but nothing wrong with working some education about it in the week or two leading up to it.

Depends on the grade. For example under grade 5 it should be just about fun. After that is when you can start the ISP projects on the topic.

If somebody is offended by Halloween in schools, they should be shot in the head for being a dipshit

Ya. Brutal. Being PC has gone WAY WAY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to far in this country.

The Xmas PC bullshit drives me NUTS... and I never thought that it would somehow be applied to halloween too. SO ridiculous. Im actually in disbelief.

Could you imagine if such a thing were to be applied to a jewish or other cultural day thatd be established and practice in a school? There'd be a huge uproar!

And, furthermore, the article states that they fear the "H" word might be as offensive to certain groups, like "Christmas" is...

Are you f*cking kidding me!!?? If "Christmas" is offensive to someone of another religion then there's his or her first problem -- GET OVER YOURSELF!

"Hanukah" isnt offensive to me even though i dont practice it ... so why the hell would "Christmas" be offensive to someone who doesnt celebrate it??!!

Seriously! Brutal!
