Difficult to explain. A lot of reverbs can provide the room ambiance (tail length, size, density etc.) but a lot of them actually just sound like the result of the sound source being in a metal box. If you go to a really old church (I mean like 15th century etc.), made from stone, wood, plaster combined with very soft fabrics, there is a natural reverb that doesn't sound harsh, it has breath to the tail and the hi's aren't over exaggerated. In fact thinking about it now a lot of reverbs just make make the hi's sound so harsh, I suppose that would be a factor in the warmth of a reverb.

For a warm reverb I want to be able to hear some of that mid and upper mid have a slight nice sounding coloration.

Anyway, it's all subjective and what I find warm might just be distortion to you?

reason's RV7000 is all I need

As far as vst's go, sonicflavours has to my taste the best reverb out there.

UAD1 and 2 use the same technology and run the same plugs but UAD2 has more processing power on it(multiple chips as opposed to just 1 chip). Highly recommend, amazing stuff!

Nice one for all the replies. What would you say is the "warmest" reverb that you use then?

PC

I like to take the standard Fl studio reverb and put a distortion on it, just it not the original sound.

Have you heard any of the new reverbs on the UAD2 platform? I was never all that impressed with the majority of the UAD1 reverbs, save the Plate 140, so I'm curious to see if it sounds any better.

Yep. It's an ugly ringing sound, that so many software reverbs have.

My choice is IK Multimedia CSR.
