+1 radio DJ's (even radio personalities) are notoriously badly paid - in fact the industry has bugger all compared to other mainstream media.
Even Chris Moyles, Radio 1 biggest listener draw gets a measly 600,000GPB per year (fair enough it's not a commercial station) but Johnny Vaughn at his peak on the biggest commercial station got 1m GBP per year.
Might sound like a lot to the factory worker, but you have to realize that these guys were the top in their field and best paid in their industry - name any other industry where if you were that famous or have that much appeal and would still settle for that low money?
Sports, No. Fashion, No. TV, no. Music, No. Technology, no. Art, No.
Even some division 1 football players that you've never heard of (or ever will) get paid more than that.
