I can't wait until you can just hit a button that says "make musik songZ", and have your computer spit out an entire track for you. Wouldn't be too difficult to do, considering the boring, template based feel of the "ground breaking" tracks released in the past few years.

A "maek remixz" button would be even easier to create.

pwned? sorry mate, going to have to disagree there, that track in my opinion is very dull. and we all know the grammies are just a popularity contest.

with regards to the ableton bashing. to each his own, use whatever you're comfortable with. it's not like you load up all your tracks on ableton and press one button and it beatmatches everything, if you do that your beats will be out of sync. and it's not like pvd doesn't know how to beatmatch, same thing with sasha, he uses ableton and his sets are still fucking amazing.

yeah, cuz the top 100 is just whoever has the largest fan base, and who has the best marketing team behind them, that's all it is really.

Also, don't DJM800's and CDJ1000's allow you to electronically beatmatch.

I mean I've been DJ'ing for like 18 hours now....

What advantage does ableton give you over the others?

if you are using ableton to dj other peoples music, it means you arent djing.

if you are using ableton and you have the parts to songs, ie your own, it means you are remixing live on the fly, making new tracks.

obviously some people are using it as a hybrid, part live, part dj.

the advantage ableton gives you, is that it beatmatches all audio for you so that you can spend your time layering and looping things.
so if you are talking about a dj set. it is making the songs the same speed, meaning if someone is doing a ableton dj set, the songs are already more or less pre decided, and they are pre beatmatched taking both mixing, and programming out of the equation.

leaving . . .i guess. . . equing?

well, by definition, that person would be djing/a dj, and that means you're wrong.

he asked what it the program does compared to cdjs.

it syncs the audio for you, and to some extent takes programming/choosing from an infinite number of next possible tracks out of the equation. at least in the manner most people use it to dj.

so no i'm not wrong.

unless you are an artist playing at least some portion your own music that you are using and altering to make the whole thing an original and fluid performance, its flat out stupid.

no you are wrong

you are only defending ableton half-assed because jamie jones uses it. if he didnt, you would all over the opposition side of the argument and you know it, you are originally a hip hop dj.

DJING EXISTED BEFORE BEATMATCHING AND WILL CONTINUE TO EXIST AFTER BEATMATCHING BECOMES OBSOLETE. BEATMATCHING != DJING.

DJING IS PLAYING MUSIC FOR OTHER PEOPLE, THATS IT.

and yes, CDJ 800s and 1000s can beatmatch/tempo sync for you. the bpm clocks on them are EXTREMELY accurate. just push the pitch slider enough to barely roll over into the bpm you want and do the same with the other deck and boom, beatmatched. all you have to do is cue it and push it into place. EVERYONE knows this trick but EVERYONE refuses to acknowledge it when these arguments come up.

there is nothing wrong with any format one chooses to dj with as long as the floor is full.
