ok this is weird. After fiddling with it for quite some time now, i can record the parameters but all the data gets stored into the midi file and not into logic's arrangement. This is driving me crazy.
Any other ideas

That's how it works. Hardware synths use MIDI CC signals to send data such as amp filter release and modulation. Read the last few pages of the NL3 manual for the MIDI CC #s.

so does this mean i cant automate the parameters within the arrangement view? Does it mean i can only do it within the midi file?

I believe so. Unless Logic has some sort of Midi CC automater.
