You know, I thought of this exact analogy earlier today at work. Republicans are really stretching to tie this to Obama in any way possible, when in reality, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone - liberal or conservative - defending Blagojevich.

Not republicans, 23%ers, the flip of Bush's approval ratings. Why would anyone defend Blagojevich? He is already old news, forgotten, a technicality. As usual the story is Obama. WWWWH?

For me it is quite reassuring of Obama's capacity to navigate delicate political climates. Somehow, someway, he was able to come out of this amazingly corrupt state unscathed and be elected President. After all their digging, the only ammunition critics have are flimsy by-association connections.

Who the fuck is Blagojevich? Only now are we hearing about the Governor of the state from which Obama announced his candidacy! Never at any campaign rallies, never pictured together. Obama kept his distance.

Anyone that thinks this is going to actually impact Obama taking oath is fooling themselves. It will be a top story for some time but that's all. The man is a step away from the most powerful position in the world.

you realize you're relying entirely on the media in order for you to make that assumption, right?

here, you're relying on your own ignorance (for lack of a better word)

i can't speak for anyone but i don't think Obama will take an oath either. i don't have some bizarre obbsesion about it anyway. my point is wtf was this "new politics" we've been choke-slammed with since the 2006 mid-terms?

Oh go clean your gun or whatever it is you do to appease your xenophobia. You fucking sound like a conspiracy theorist. Tell you what, I'll make a thread about how the secret-terrorist illegal alien Barrack Hussein Obama is out to destroy America and the main stream liberal media that's in on it. You can hash out the details with all the nuts from the 9/11 threads and pkcRAISTLIN can moderate.

The President-elect has been running possibly the best transitions in modern history. The majority of the public (republicans, democrats and independents) has shown approval for his decisions, and appointments. The man is fucking moving markets and he isn't President yet. Most of the appointments are centrist figures. He could bring about world peace and you'd still be talking shady associations.

Actually I'm relying on my recollection of a Reuters article.
quote:
"Obama had the good sense to stay far, far away from Blagojevich and all of his people," said Democratic consultant Dane Strother.

"You never saw Blagojevich in Obama's camp, you never saw his name during the campaign. Obama's people were plenty smart enough to stay way away from Blagojevich and all the people around Blagojevich," he said.
http://www.reuters.com/article/poli...lBrandChannel=0

Not that you'd be interested in the liberal media in on the conspiracy.

I'm not sure what you're suggesting. Are you saying you don't think Obama will make it to inauguration? Even I don't think you could possibly be that oblivious to reality. How wonderful is it after the election you take a sabbatical from PDD only to pop in on the first sight of trouble.

well, i tried to be civil with you Josh but you leave me no choice but to bury your dumbass in simple logic. here we go, lets look at your next statement...

YOU JUST PROVED MY FIRST POINT JACKASS. way to rely on the media and your own ignorance of Chicago machine politics.

Barrack Obama, Rahm Emmanuel (president elect's Chief of Staff) and David Wilhelm were Blago's top advisors for his 2002 gubernatorial campaign. does that one fact flunk the Josh4 smell test? you want more?

my point is, your first assumption - " he was able to come out of this amazingly corrupt state unscathed and be elected President." - is a silly one...based on silliness.

your argument is based on your assertion that he [Obama] was elected therefore he's not a criminal, or at least dubious, questionable, untrustworthy in some way whatever.

let me ask you this Einstein, you think Bush is a criminal right? or at the very least dubious right? wasn't he elected? now stfu.

you never saw Blago with Obama this year because because Blago's approval rating in Illinois all year was anywhere around 4-12%. that Rueters article never mentions that fact does it? you're stupid, dude. a media driven sheep

btw, Tony Rezko.....

i'm not even close to saying that.

so? wtf does it matter?

it was. i thought Josh4 meant to testify under oath at Blago's trial.

Barack could very well testify under oath but i don't have some crazed axe to grind seeing it happen like we've seen in the past.

but just to clear up any confusion, yes, i believe Obama will take the oath of office Josh4 was originally referring to. i'm not that cynical.

Josh4 make's a lot of assuptions (because he's not at all bright) but one assumption he makes is i'm some gun toting, sister fucking, red neck just because my location says im from Texas. it couldn't be further from the truth. although i am from Texas, I'm Asian. i don't own a gun and have no current desire to...and the sister i'd tried to fingerbang when i was 12 was actually by marriage, a step-sister.

im gonna enjoy the next 8 years of this i reckon we havent seen the half of Q5 V opus yet!!

to be honest, i dont care if obama is a criminal. the republicans dug such a huge hole for themselves that unless obama is caught diddling some 5 year old, there's very little the GOP can do until 2016.

tough titties gentlemen!
