It could do providing something had changed, for example if it was long distance in the first place & only broke off because distance was the reason, or because they were in education & needed time to concentrate fully on finishing that. If it broke off as eluded by others for another reason, lack of trust, infidelity etc etc then it won't work 2nd, 3rd or even 4th time around.

haha wtf it seriously doesn't relate to me, it was just something that was discussed and i wanted others thoughts/experiences on it

i had a friend who did this, 3 years together for round 1, broke up and took a year off and he banged a bunch of chicks, and then another 3 together for round 2. i knew that round 2 was doomed to failure when he never stopped banging other chicks. plus he was a massive partier drinking and using drugs in excess and she was more of a homebody who had like 5 drinks in the 7 years that I knew her so I don't think they would have made it even if he could keep his dick in his pants. issues over his drinking (she didn't even know he was using drugs lol) among other things broke them up the first time.

If you believe people can change then of course it can work.
More so if end of round 1 was mutual.

Probably both, but the vast majority of "round 1" relationships are doomed to fail regardless. If the assumption is that a relationship which eventually ends did not "work," then I submit that the failure is in your preconceptions.

so um yeah a potential reason for round 2 to work again (in my experience) is when there is a LONG break in time (9 years in my case) and both people are a lot more mature
