I once woke up in the middle of the night to an earthquake in rural north Texas.
It lasted maybe five or ten seconds. Really weird and unexpected.

We get some moderate-to-strong ones here but thankfully they usually don't last long. The last one i felt was about one week ago but it was realatively mild and short. I did felt the movement though since i live in a third-floor apartment

i've been woken up by gunshots outside of my house before but not an earthquake
