A bit of leak at very, very high volumes is normal in some mixers.

The fact that it's nearly a decade old doesn't help either.

Back to the Crossfader problem. I am having a similar problem, but I have a 2 month old Numark M101USB Mixer. Would it be a bad idea to file the ends of the crossfader's slot just a little bit? I'm getting a new next week crossfader anyway.

The problem is that you're dealing with analogue potentiometers. Most cheap ones aren't 100%, so when full to one side, you're still getting 0.5% of the other channel. Some designs, have a contact at the edge so it acts like a finite switch.

Unfortunately, crossfaders are considered a consumable, prone to wear and tear (like car tires) so they usually don't have warranties.

You could try using some Deoxit Faderlube or CAIG ProGold G5. THis will clean and condition the contacts without damaging it. DO NOT USE ANY OIL BASED PRODUCTS OR WD40.

Other than that, look at the Innofader. They are compatible with many brands and are much better faders than most that come shipped with cheap and even mid range mixers.
