i guess trance is still not doing well in US..u mite have to wait long before u can play real "quiet" stuff.

i'd agree with thor...the crowd goes wild in many pvd sets during the quieter parts...especially during that untitled song of his that he plays.

one more thing is that the crowd should be familiar with the song...

i guess the best option is to play some popular Rank1 and PVD stuff....

Be Cool!

Oh yeah...that reminds me of one more thing. The DJ's identity plays a big role in crowd response too. Van Dyk or Oakenfold, some of the bigger, more known DJ's, will have more freedom in the selection of music they choose to expose the crowd to. The lesser known DJ usually has to go the crowd's direction and play hard, bangin tunes.

DJXtronic, Pvd's album isn't a dancing compliation. Most DJ's don't put what they play live on albums. & When Pvd drops For an Angel, Another Way, Out There & Back, Face to Face, Together We will Conquer the crowd goes wild.

So you think that NYC is just like the rest of North America? I wonder if Regina, Saskatchewan is as cool as NYC Clubs Me thinks not..

The European scene is so much more suffisticated than their North American counterparts in regards to the Trance scene..

Obviously there are clubs where the crowd is knowladgeable in NA, but those are the exception, not the rule. I bet even in the recent Ultra that a good portion of those people who went knew little about the music nor even knew most of the lesser name Dj's at the event....

Its too bad you have to get so upset over somebody's opinion, we should at least be cordial and respect one another.. That is afterall what this music is about, love, respect, etc.....

Cheers,

Thor.....

I'm not upset, It's a friggin message board. LOL I didn't think my post was that offensive. Aren't I allowed to express my opinion? I was insulted by Lexicon Avenue's remark that ppl in NA are clueless. The Twiloites & ppl that go Shadow lounge, Space every wk are extremely knowledgeable. How can the UK be underground if trance is on the radio?

Back here there are many clubbers that stop to dan,ce when there's a quiet part, and pick up their dance ,when the beat starts, they don't get cought up in the music,to my opinion, but who cares, usually I don't notice this,I noticed it on a day when I was ver tired and didn't dance that much

Twilo, why you should you feel insulted??? I checked my posted message 27 times, and not once did i see the word clueless. i do agree that new york city has many excellent clubs, along with a few other NA cities, but when the majority of music thats played on radio, television (see MTV), etc. etc. is brittney spears (she's so hot!) pop-esque type, then of course thats where im gonna draw my conclusion from. you proved my point by saying that the UK-ites play trance (plus a bunch more electronica) on the radio. they're more in touch with the clubbing scene, whether its underground, or "up-top".

they sure do grow then rough in the big apple

PS - I'm from NA too. Nice to meet you.

Regards
Lexi

NY has only 1 excellent club: Twilo. & the thousands that flock there every wkend for the muzik are very educated. The ppl who go to Sound Factory & Exit go there to get mangled & get laid. They're not musically educated w/new tracks, remixes or ids. All they know is Jonathan Peters, Tony Draper, & Boris. If they were real die hard muzik lovers they would be at Twilo.

NA is behind in the trance scene but the ppl that are into trance know their shit. I agree w/what ur sayin... I'm sure the crowd in Ohio wouldn't realize For an Angel is 3 yrs old.

*call me TG or Daphna* Sowwie if I came off as a bitch.
