look at it this way, would you rather have him do what he's doing now? or end up like Tiesto and fall apart? must admit, armin is my fave, but tiesto was too for a long time. sometimes changing the sound too much can really ruin an artist, because he's losing him/herself to opinion.
on another note, i just gotta say this.
for me, trance music is not about the music itself, but the imagination behind it. like Janeiro, for example. this may sound lame, but try this out. put it on with headphones and just listen to it, and imagine yourself with some amazing female at the beach at sunset. you can take so many trance songs and picture something to each one of them. like fast songs, when you slam on the gas in your car, or when you're with a girl you really like and you can feel the music so much more. armin takes his tracks to a higher level before each summer starts, because this is what i'm talking about. he always mentions the summer on his website, and always releases melodic tracks around this time. and guess what, the summer is definitely more melodic than the winter. why? beach, weather, parties, women, men (for you females), and relaxation and fun. you can enjoy tracks like janeiro, dust/dub.wav, too late too turn, more than ever because you get a summery feeling from them. look at the sound of goodbye, for me it came out around wintertime (i live in the us), its more of a nighttime club song. not a song to be on the beach to, or at an outdoor arena (Still a classic).
what i'm basically saying is this, summer=melodic trance, so just enjoy it. and try that janeiro thing, it really does work. it just makes you want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and just be with someone (maybe someone you know already, or maybe someone you've NEVER MET BEFORE).
now go out this weekend, and start the summer. and remember, you can enjoy trance so much more if you listen to the music, and picture anything you want in your mind.
