One of the more common questions I get asked is why I don't play more in Toronto and the answer to that is always that besides the Guv, there really is nowhere to be playing, and at the end of the day playing in your local city does almost nothing for your career.
International appeal will always be something that will have the biggest impact on your career, if you look at most North American acts, they are generally a lot bigger overseas than they are in their own territory.
Needless to say every city has its share of local talent, it just seems like there's a greater novelty value in booking someone international, and the fans seem to prefer it that way.
