That's just your opinion, yet a common one, what a remix is. There are no absolute rules for making a remix. It's just what people think a remix should sound like. Some people prefer remixes very different to the original and some prefer remixes only a slightly tweaked, more similar to the original.
A remix is purely the remixers' vision of the remixed track, no matter whether the resulted track is 99.9% the same than the original or 99.9% different with only a fracture of a second bit used from it. Often the remixes do sound nothing like the original, like most dub or instrumental mixes of poppy tracks are but does that really matter if the "remix" is good?
